« on: October 24, 2011, 04:29:25 PM »
well i just bought a marlin 795 for $150 plus DROS.  came out to $193 out the door.  will be using a $25 rebate.

i have a Double Eagle UMG/UMP that i will be gutting out.  i really didnt want to gut it because the gun works fine.  i can always buy a new one anyways.

Ruger 10/22 (G36) and Marlin 795 (UMP)

Paid $150 for the Marlin plus DROS/tax. $193 out the door
$100 for the UMP stock.

$293 for a unique conversion.

UMP is 50% done.  I've put in about 3 hours so far. I just finished dremeling the inside.  I still have to bed it properly, put some spacers, better screws.
Dont mind the jagged edges around the trigger guard.  I still have to file it down and make it smooth.  I'll be putting a fake suppressor on it as well.  Also I plan to respray it with flat black gloss duplicolor.

i bought some Devcon steel putty for the bedding, PVC piping for the backside of the receiver to act as a buffer, and some rubber shims to fit the side of the receivers.

any suggestions on how to work with the putty and making a bed for the receiver?  i read that people, would lay down the putty, layer it with seran wrap, then pressed the receiver to make a mold, remove the seran wrap and then let it cure.  am i right? did i miss anything else with this process?

im stuck at securing the front retaining mount by the magwell grip.
